Quick Links to the following sections

FisherConnect

Q. How do I access FisherConnect?
A. Log on to: www.fisher.osu.edu/offices/career-management/fisherconnect. Click on the Student Login to FisherConnect link.

Q. How do I register?
A. When you are admitted into the College of Business and accepted in to your major, we automatically load you in to FisherConnect. Include information about what to do if you are not automatically loaded into FisherConnect.

Q. What is my Username and Password?
A. If you are logging in for the first time, your username is your last name dot number (smith.46) and your password is: newuser. If you are already registered and can not remember your username and password, please email: career_management@fisher.osu.edu.

Q. How many resumes can I upload?
A. You can upload up to 10 different resumes per your account in FisherConnect.

Q. How do I choose which resume to submit once I request an interview?
A. Once you choose “submit resume” or “request interview”, you will get a pop up asking you which document (resume) you would like to submit. If you do not get this pop up, then you have a pop up blocker on your computer. To allow pop-ups on this site you will need to disable your pop-up blocker by clicking on “Tools” on your browser, “Pop-up Blocker”, and “Turn-off Pop-up Blocker”. Keep in mind that the employer will receive the default resume in your account unless you have chosen to submit a different resume.

Q. How can I upload the resume I created using a MS Word template?
There’s something with the formatting of Microsoft templates that prevents FisherConnect from turning it into a PDF document. Here’s how to fix it:
1. Select all of the text in the resume (hit CTRL and A)
2. Copy the text
3. Open up another blank document
4. Go to Edit > Paste Special
5. Select “Formatted Text (RTF)” & hit Okay
6. Go to File > Save As
7. Name the file & choose a file type of “Rich Text Format” & Save
This should strip any funny formatting (but still keep the style of the resume you want).

Q. What is the difference between a Job and a Schedule?
A. A Job is posted on FisherConnect without an on-campus interview schedule. Students can view jobs and apply directly to the recruiter and the two will work together to set up an interview at any time and any place. A Schedule is posted in FisherConnect with a schedule for a pre-determined on-campus interview date attached to it. Once selected for an interview, students sign up for their interview time through FisherConnect. The recruiter plays little to no role in setting up the interview.

Q. What is the difference between Qualified and All Schedules?
A. The schedules you see under Qualified Schedules are jobs for which you are eligible to request an on-campus interview because you meet all of the requirements set by the employer. All Schedules lists every schedule that recruiters have set up for on-campus interviewing, however you may not meet the requirements for many of these schedules. Please note that you can only submit your resume to the schedules you can view under Qualified Schedules.

Q. Why can’t I submit my resume or request an interview for a specific job or schedule?
A. If FisherConnect is not allowing you to “submit resume” or “request interview” for a specific job or schedule, then one of the following is happening:

  • You do not meet all of the requirements set by the employer. It should tell you which requirement you do not meet if this is the case.
  • Check the timeline within the schedule, you may not be able to submit your resume yet or it may be past the due date.
  • You are not QUIC or do not meet the eligibility group requirement to interview on campus.

Q. Why can’t I sign up for my interview time if I’ve been accepted?
A. Check the timeline within the schedule. You may not be in the date range to sign up yet. The date on the timeline next to Accepted Students Schedule Interviews is the first day that students can begin signing up for an interview.

Q. What information is on the timeline?
A. In order to make use of the timeline in your schedule, it is important to understand the language in the timeline.

  • Request Interview for Preselect Schedule— The first date that students can begin submitting their resumes to be considered for an interview
  • Request Interview Period Over — The last day students have to submit their resumes; often called the Resume Drop deadline
  • Accepted Candidates Schedule Interviews — The first date that accepted students can begin signing up for an interview — preselects must be made prior to this date
  • Interview Scheduling Closed — The last day that accepted students can sign up for an interview.

Q. What does it mean if I’ve been chosen as an alternate?
A. If you are selected as an alternate candidate, you will be able to login to FisherConnect and sign up for your interview 2 days before the interview date. The schedule will first open to students who were preselected as Accepted; Alternate candidates can sign up for any open timeslots available once their sign-up window has opened.

To sign up:

  1. Log into FisherConnect
  2. Click on My Account in the tool bar then select My Activity
  3. Click on the Schedules tab and scroll to the Preselect section
  4. Locate the job title and organization for which you have been selected as an alternate and click to open the schedule
  5. Scroll down to the Timeline section to make sure that the window has opened for alternates to sign up

Q. What if I have not been informed whether or not I am “accepted” for an interview schedule and the sign up date has already begun?
A. In this case, the recruiter may not have made their preselects within the timeline and we encourage you to bring this to our attention.

Q. Where are my interviews located?
A. All on-campus interviews are in 150 Gerlach Hall unless specified otherwise.

Q. Can I cancel an interview?
A. Only certain circumstances permit a student to cancel an interview. If an emergency should occur please follow these steps to properly cancel your interview (note: you may still be in violation of interviewing policy if your emergency is not approved):

  1. Contact the Recruiting Coordinator at recruitingcoordinator@fisher.osu.edu or 614-292-8615, as soon as you are aware that you will need to cancel
  2. Email the employer/s that you were scheduled to interview with to explain your situation
  3. Be prepared to provide the necessary documentation to verify your emergency if necessary

Q. Where can I find contact information for an employer?
A. Follow these steps to find the employer contact information:

  1. Login to FisherConnect.
  2. Click on [Employers] in the red tool bar at the top of the page
  3. Under [Employer Information], enter the name of the organization
  4. Click on the organization name
  5. Find the [Contacts] box at the bottom of the page
  6. Click on the name of the person you wish to contact

Note: Not all recruiters allow their contact information to be viewed by students. If the name of the person you want to contact is not listed, he/she has chosen to keep their information private.

Q. What happens if I get an email for violating the FisherConnect policy?
A. The first time you violate a policy you will receive a warning via email. A second violation will result in the inactivation of your FisherConnect account for the remainder of the academic year. You are welcome to appeal any warning or account inactivation to the FisherConnect Policy Committee (contact Mark Wilson, wilson.46@osu.edu or 614-292-8615, for more information). You must submit a written explanation of the circumstances and provide any documentation that you feel might help your appeal (correspondence with an employer, doctor’s note, etc.).

Q. How do I schedule a Mock Interview?
A. To sign up for a mock interview:

  1. Log into FisherConnect (https://www.myinterfase.com/osu-fisher/student/)
  2. Hold your mouse over [On-Campus Interviews] and select [Qualified Schedules]
  3. For each schedule, click on the highlighted ID number
  4. For open schedules, at the top of the screen will be a red “Sign Up” link in the top left column of the page — click on that to schedule your interview time

  5. The interview date(s) will be displayed — choose one and click on it, then choose an interview time and click on “Sign up” (If the schedule is full there will be an error message in red in the box labeled “session information” at the bottom of the screen. You’ll need to search for another date or company.)

Q. How do I report my Job or Internship to the Office of Career Management?
A. Undergraduate Students-- in FisherConnect, go to My Account > My Activity > “Report a Hire” icon (toward the top right part of the screen).

Graduate Students-- please go here http://fisher.osu.edu/offices/career-management/graduate-students/job-reporting-forms

Q. How do I request to have my information removed from the Office of Career Management mailing list or email distribution list?
A. The Office of Career Management does not have a "mailing list" that we use. We do searches of students in the database by criteria in their profiles, then send an e-mail based on that criteria. If you do not want the Office of Career Management to send you any e-mails, you can make your Search Status for Employment to "Not Searching" (in your profile). When we send e-mails, we always include in the search criteria, "Actively Searching" students.

*If you do not want employers to be able to search you and send you e-mails, edit the field "Allow Employer Viewing" to say No (in your profile).

Q. Why is it that when I login to FisherConnect at midnight so that I can be the first person to schedule my interview, I am unable to schedule my interview?
A. The interview scheduling period actually begins at 1am EST because the servers are located in Austin, TX and the window opens at 12am CMT or 1am our time.

On-Campus Interviewing

Q. What if I have met a recruiter and they want to interview me but I am not QUIC?
A. Email or written documentation from the recruiter expressing the desire to interview a particular student must be forwarded on to recruitingcoordinator@fisher.osu.edu or 614-292-8615.

Q. What if I have decided to accept a job but signed up for other interviews prior to accepting an offer?
A. Once you have accepted a job offer it is unnecessary and unfair to keep interviewing. We expect that you notify the employers that you have upcoming interviews with to explain your situation. Please copy the Recruiting Coordinator at recruitingcoordinator@fisher.osu.edu on this email to ensure that you do not receive a policy violation and are officially taken off the interview schedule.

QUIC

Q. Where can I find the QUIC course on Carmen?
A. The course is located under “My Courses” and then in the section labeled “Special” , Business Administration, there should be a course titled Career Services: QUIC Modules.
