Fisher Futures

Investment Banking Program

The Fisher College of Business Office of Career Services has developed Fisher Futures, a unique and innovative program to aid you as a top finance student at Fisher in attaining experience in the investment banking industry. While the application process is lengthy and selective, we invite you to apply to become a member of the distinguished Fisher Futures program. Once selected to join Fisher Futures, you will receive individual coaching preparing you to compete for a summer investment internship and thus be well positioned to secure a full-time career position in the investment banking industry upon graduation.

Requirements:

  • You must be admitted as a Finance Major by Autumn 2008
  • You must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA after Winter Quarter 2008
  • You must be eligible to enroll in the Finance Sequence Fin 620, Fin 722, Fin 724 by Autumn 2008
  • You must be available for a summer internship in 2009 (June - August 2009)
  • You must be planning to graduate by June 2010

If you are accepted into Fisher Futures, you will:

  • Compete for a summer 2009 internship in the investment banking industry
  • Participate in an Autumn 2008 class to prepare for interviews in investment banking as well as to gain an understanding of the industry
  • Train in financial modeling with DealMaven
  • Take part in trips to New York City and Chicago to visit investment banks and network with Fisher alumni in the industry.
  • Be featured on the career services website, including your resume, bio, and photo

The Application Process:

Phase 1:

  • Complete the application form
  • Submit a copy of your resume
  • Submit an unofficial copy of your transcript (including Winter Quarter grades)
  • Read WetFeet’s career guide to Investment Banking (Wetfeet is available on short-term loan from Career Services)
  • Respond to two essay questions incorporating what you learned from the readings (specific directions on application)

Turn in all of the above by April 11th to the Office of Career Services in 150 Gerlach Hall

Phase 2:

Based on Applications received in Phase 1, several students will be invited to participate in Phase 2, and will be provided further instructions.

  • Complete an essay regarding a recent news event in the field of finance or economics
  • Participate in a panel interview focusing on your background and interest in investment banking

Phase 3:

For those students who participate in Phase 2, several students will be invited to participate in Phase 3. After being selected to move into Phase 3 you are temporarily selected as a member of Fisher Futures and are officially accepted after completion of the summer development program.

  • Participate in a summer development program to help prepare for a career in investment banking
  • Participate in a panel interview to finalize your acceptance into Fisher Futures at the beginning of fall quarter
