Nationwide Fisher Biz Quiz
Fisher team defends Biz Quiz title
For the second-straight year, a team of Fisher undergraduate students won the Nationwide-Fisher Biz Quiz competition over students from top business schools throughout the country.
Fisher's team consisted of Colin McMahon, Adam Windnagel, and Alex Doane. The team was coached by Bernadette Minton, professor of finance.
The team from the University of Michigan finished second, and Texas A&M University finished third.
The sixth annual Nationwide/Fisher College of Business Biz Quiz competition was held on November 11, 12 and 13, 2011. Student teams from 18 universities came to the Ohio State University campus from every corner of the nation to be tested on their knowledge of current business events using a fast-paced game show format. The competing undergraduate teams were quizzed on articles that appeared in The Wall Street Journal from September 27 through November 8, 2011.
The final round of competition was held at Nationwide in Jeffers Auditorium with Krishnan Anantharaman, Managing Editor of The Wall Street Journal Classroom Edition serving as the moderator. “Participating in this competition was a great opportunity that not only exposed me to new terms and a framework of concepts, but it also enhanced my understanding of financial markets by allowing me to personally identify trends and functions of different markets throughout the six week period.” said Daniel Kane, a member of the 2010 Ohio State University team.
In 2011, Ohio State’s Fisher team finished victorious over University of Michigan and Texas A&M. Team winners in the written competition were first-place University of Michigan; second-place Ohio State University and in a tie for third place Texas A&M and Michigan State University.
