Background

Mr. Barnes has nearly forty years of experience at the senior technology officer level within multiple industry sectors, including successful leadership roles at the Fortune 100 level. In addition to his role at the Fisher College of Business, he is currently the CEO of BOLD VISION®, a recognized senior consulting consortium comprised of former CIOs and other “C Level” executives.

Mr. Barnes has received numerous industry accolades, including having been recognized as one of this country’s most noted CIOs. He is still a broadly recognized voice at national industry events and in major industry publications.

He is also the co-founder and ongoing co-producer of the widely acclaimed “CIO Solutions Gallery” series, nationally headquartered at the Fisher College of Business.

Planning and management of the information system function in business organizations with emphasis on the problems involved. Prereq: CSE 2123 (214), BusMgt 2320 (330), 2321 (331), and BusMHR 2292 (BusAdm 499.01); and Sr or Grad standing. Not open to students with credit for 659.
ACCTMIS 3600 - Introduction to Accounting Information Systems
The design of accounting information systems; focus is on business processes and internal control. Prereq: 3200 or 521, and BusMHR 2292 (BusAdm 499.01); or permission of instructor. Not open to students with credit for 631.
ACCTMIS 3620 - Foundations of Information Systems
Provide a core knowledge base of management information systems; develop an understanding of their impact and operational and strategic use at all levels within and across modern business enterprises. Prereq: 2200, 2300, BusOBA 2320, 2321, BusMHR 2292, and CSE 1223.
BUSMHR 7461 - Technology and Innovation Strategy
How technology strategy may lead to creation/persistence of competitive advantage. In contrast to core strategy course, provides series of strategic frameworks for managing high-tech businesses. Prereq: Enrollment in MBA, WPMBA, MLHR, MHRM, SMBA, or MAcc program, or permission of instructor.
